Thanks to all for the comments.

I'll be putting all of the corrected images into a Flickr set so you
can see the sequence.
1) Far away immature Snowy Owl on lamp post (lots of brown)
2) Shots of it as it flies away (actually more across in front of me
and farther away)
3) Intercept by the mature owl I capture later & the tangles
4) Finding the other owl on the pole (flash captures).
All of these were shot within about a 45 minute time span.

Interestingly, it was not the immature owl on the lamp post the day
before... but I would wager it was the one I captured with the flash.
There may be some territorial issues going on around here. The one we
saw (that I may have captured on the partially shot roll of film in
the 645) was several miles away to the SW side of town.

In other Nebraska bird news... we have 1000 Sandhill Cranes wintering
here (for the first time ever, that we know of). And an Elm Creek
rural mail carrier captured images of a flock of Whooping Cranes
(about 20 miles west of here). They are either wintering here also or
are about two months early. I've never seen a whooper and would love
to get photographic proof of having seen one of those too!
