The 645 segment was more inviting than full frame, in that there was little affordable competition. What's more, Pentax had a professional following and quite a few lenses available for its autofocus 645N and 645N II. Pentax has no such professional following for a 24 x 36 SLR. But you may be right. Time will tell.
