I hear you Dave. Keep in mind that I had two lights on the white
backdrop and ensured that it was entirely blown out by at least 1
stop.

I was constantly metering for correct subject exposure and believe me,
she was well-lit. Two 2x4 foot softboxes (2:1 ratio) here I think.

I didn't mention that the intent with the shoot is to do background
replacement in Photoshop, eg spring-like yellow coloured circular
gradients, or huge polka dots and the like. We had no alternative
backdrops available, besides grey and black, unfortunately. I would
like to try flooding the background with gelled strobes soon, but have
to figure out how to gel these Bowens. I suspect they need an adapter
we don't have.

So anyway, the subject to background brightness/contrast balance
should improve once I've done the final post-processing.
