I'm pretty sure that this /is/ a mirrorless camera targeted at the
Pentax faithful. Really if you were looking for an EVIL camera stepping
up from a P&S and didn't have an investment in K mount lenses what
system would you choose. Every other system is better integrated, some
have much faster focusing all are smaller, M4:3 even gives you the
capability to mix and match from three different manufactures for camera
bodies and lenses. Even image quality is only marginally better than
one Sony model which is really close anyway, (assuming it's as good as
the K-5 and Sony has done nothing to improve it's latest NEX using the
same family sensor), and pixel count is inferior to another Sony Nex.
So it doesn't even win there. About the only thing the K-01 has going
for it is K mount compatibility more or less equal to that in any Pentax
DSLR. It only seems to be a designed to appeal to those who own K mount
lenses and those who must wear clothing with the designer label on the
outside.

I wonder if what we'll get is a K-01 with and EVF
I think that's likely to happen eventually. The K-01 is intended for
newbies (to both photography and Pentax) but I expect a mirrorless
camera targeted at the Pentax faithful before too long.

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
