Paul,
The problem I see with your sales pitch is that is fails to account
for those users who are growing *into* mirrorless, not *out* of it.
This has been a problem with camera makers and MILCs, who viewed their
clientèle as P&S movers uppers, when in reality many of them were DSLR
movers downers. It took about 2 years until we saw a MILC with dual
controls (the Ricoh GXR) and another year or more until the 2nd
dual-control MILC showed up (the Fuji X100). This latter camera's
success finally made camera makers realise that there are advanced
photographers who want compact cameras, and now we have the Sony
NEX-7, Olympus E-M5 and Fuji X-Pro 1 in the advanced camera segment.
I don't want a MILC so I can grow into the associated DSLR system, I
want a MILC so I can grow into the MILC system and take advantage of
its smaller, lighter bodies and compact lenses. These are the main
draws of the MILC segment, so why do you think someone who bought into
a MILC system would want to move away from that and trade portability
for the larger size and weight of DSLR bodies and lenses, especially
when they gain nothing in IQ? I just don't see it happening.
Cheers,
