Thanks again, Frank!

The main reason I was so sketchy about having them in the photo was because I was originally hoping to get enough DOF to get the mama cow in focus, but I decided it was best to have both her and the truck and trailers OOF rather than have them both in focus. She's still very much a presence in the image, and that was the important thing as far as I was concerned.

Were the pickup and trailer sharp they'd be a problem but they are just about

Perfect!

Thanks, Frank!

At first, I was a little disgruntled at the pickup being in the
background, but as you said, it sort of lends itself to the scene. And,
yes -- mama cow wasn't altogether pleased with my presence, so I made
sure not to get anywhere between her and the young 'un.

Nice one. I really like the oof pickup and trailers in the background. They
really give the photo a sense of place. And that bovine has attitude!

Subject: PESO: Mama's Watchin'

Hi all,

I saw this little dude lying down in the field behind my house from a
distance and at first thought it was a newborn calf. So, while making
sure to keep a reasonably safe distance, I rolled under the barbed wire
and walked out with the K-x/Tokina 28-200 3.5/5.3 in hand. As I got to a
place where I could frame both the calf and its mama cow in the shot, it
stood up. At that point, it was obvious it wasn't a newborn.

It was also obvious that mama cow was a little skeptical of my presence,
so I took a quick shot and moseyed my way back to and under the fence
where I belong.

Comments and suggestions welcome as always.
