3. You can spend 1 minute getting a free membership, and then you won't see pop-up ads (or any others) at all.
i've had a photo.net membership since 1998 (in part because i admired and learned from Phil Greenspun, way back when), but recently i thought i'd give them the benefit of a doubt, and asked for access to my account (which is associated with an defunct email address); but despite the fact i have a preponderance of evidence that that account is mine, i can't prove it the way they want me to; obviously i've got this stuck in my craw, but i find it amazing that a real person there will engage in a rational email conversation lasting several messages, but essential just say "up yours" at the end
4. For all its warts, photo.net presents pix well, and is easy to navigate (unlike, say, Flickr).
to me photo.net seems to present images in a relatively archaic way, and photos often awkwardly break out of their frame
i almost never "navigate" photo.net; usually all i'll do is follow a link and view a single photo there; for some reason i haven't seen too many pop-overs lately, so i've been less hesitant when i see a photo.net link
