I think that most consumers who aren't really photographers, chose N or C
mainly because they were famous. Their names are so big the average
consumers might not even know what their products looked like, let alone
seeing PJ using N or C camera at major events. So the question is not
whether Pentax should get those PJ using Pentax, but rather, how to raise or
re-invent the image of Pentax which was once famous in the 60's. In Japan,
Pentax is a respected brand and you won't be laughed at when shopping
Pentax. Pentax should do some serious thinking on what they had done wrong
in all these years. It's all about marketing. And I must say, I have never
been impressed by any Pentax ads in British, US or Australian magazines.
Some of their ads were even poorly taste. If those ads couldn't catch the
attention of a Pentax user like me, who would they catch?

>Right, you are, Alan! But why would that be? I earlier today proposed

>Your post got me to thinking, however. Could it be that the lack of a

>(please!), but let's face it, when we see a PJ in a media scrum on the
>news, or
>on the street, he/she invariably has an F5 or an EOS. I'm sure that the

>sees that as well.

>I think that the fact that Pentax really hasn't catered to "pros" (PJ's at

>As wonderful and capable a body as the MZ S is, PJ's aren't using it - not
>surprising, because I don't think they are necessarily who it is aimed at.
>But
>it's also not surprising that the public thinks, "Wanna look like a pro? I
>will
>if I buy C or N."
