The paint/anodization on the adapter mount is usually responsible for that.
Something alike (camera not metering) happens with screw-mount lenses used
via K-mount adapter, due to the black-paint finish of those lenses.
Be sure any lens attached shorts the camera contacts. If not, either insert
a thin aluminum foil or scratch the paint off.
