Are on a Mac or PC? If you're running 64 bit Windows, you can only access 2 gig of ram for 32 bit software like PSE. You can open that up to 4 gig with this patch tool...

http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

After you run the patch tool, be sure to go to Edit->Preferences->Performance in PSE and make sure PSE is set to use 100% of the available RAM.

I found a marked difference in performance after I used this patch.

If you're running 32-bit Windows this won't help...and if you're using a Mac, maybe one of the Mac guys can help.

Thanks, Dan. I probably shot a dozen or more pano's, but this is the
first one I have put together using PSE 9. It does pretty good but
keeps telling me I have limited RAM. I have 12 gig installed, so that
should not be a problem ?

Being old doesn't seem so old now that I'm old.
