Are any of the big A* lenses supposed to have greenish instead of
whitish barrels, as discussed recently here on the PDML?

Well, on the newly redone Pentax USA web site there are some images
of the A* 300/2.8 and A* 600/5.6 lenses, where the 300/2.8 seems to
be a gleaming white, while the 600/5.6 does appear to have a
distinct pale greenish color. (The thumbnail images show these same
colors, of course.)

(Unfortunately, at the moment, the images for the 400/2.8 and
the 1200/8 on the Pentax USA site appear to be missing or the URL's
may be incorrect.)

You can see the two images at the same time from the following page
(which is on my own web site, but the image links go directly to the
Pentax USA site) -

http://www.cetussoft.com/pentax/wt&grn.htm

Or, is it just a case of sloppy image color consistency?

The Pentax USA page with the thumbnails is at -

http://www.pentaxusa.com/products/lenses/lensemodel.cfm?lensetype=35mm&lensemodel=A%2CK%2DTELEPHOTO#

(The above URL may end up being wrapped.)
