> BTW, a few days ago I saw the F* 250-600/5,6 and A* 400/2,8 side > by side. The F lens was whitish and the A lens was greenish.
Yes, I can believe that. The barrels and hoods of my F* 300/4.5's are quite white (or perhaps slightly off-white), while the barrel and hood of my A* 600/5.6 are distinctly and uniformly pale green. However, there obviously are both whitish and greenish big A* lenses. All (or certainly at least most) of the 300/2.8's that have been reported here are white. On the other hand, most (but not all) of the 400/5.6's have been reported as being slightly greenish. I think that my greenish 600/5.6 has been the only 600/5.6 reported here. (And nobody's chimed in with a 1200/8 yet - <g>.) So, Boz, the question is not whether some of these critters are greenish or not. Rather, the questions are: Which? When? Why?
