A striplight is in fact a softbox, but a particularly narrow one. Eg:
1 foot by 4 or 6 feet.

Yes, you could baffle your normal softbox to make a striplight out of
it. That's the sort of thing that Benjamin Kanarek (an old PDMLer)
does. He wrote it up in a tutorial here ...

Maybe they just wanted to reduce confusion by listing both even though
they are aliases for the same thing.
