I assume you're paying your electric utility a premium for wind power. That doesn't mean your getting power from wind. All power generated by wind farms goes right into the grid. They can't send it straight to your house or anyone else's. The power delivered to your meter is from the grid that services your area.. You're just helping to pay for wind power development. That's noble, but it's not wind power your using. Depending on where you live, most of it probably comes from coal. The exceptions are areas with a lot of hydro, including Oregon, parts of Washington and upstate New York. > (during which time i've also steadily decreased my consumption); granted it > is not always wind in my wires, but it is done as offsets so that when i use > electricity that doesn't come from wind, someone else (who doesn't pay the > premium that i do) uses an equivalent portion of wind-sourced current later > > i am not the only person who's willing to pay more for clean energy, and > changing my habits; i'm committed to continuing to change them because i find > seeing beyond immediate gratification gratifying > > >> Unfortunately, it's fossil fuels or nukes.
