This thread has (predictably) wandered from my original point, which was not Video vs Still but Video as 30fps motor drive to GET to Still. The quality for this is already here, I think it is more of a question as to whether autofocus can keep up.
Think fashion photog with supermodel and fan blowing on hair as she sets her "looks". Burst of 30 fps video can be used rather than 6 fps motor drives to multiply the number of "shots" to choose from by a factor of 5. I see the same thing for sporting events when the moment of "The Shot" is even more critical.
