Yes and No.

"Where photography is going ..." and "Where my photography is going
..." are indeed two very different things. I could care less about
scanning high rez video frames to find a good exposure ... I'll never
do that, and I don't have any motivation to try. I see no value in it.
The precepts of good still photography, after you have learned enough
camera technique to set exposure and focus properly, are to learn
where to point the camera and when to press the shutter release.
Without those two elements, it is no longer photography that I care to
do.

So if manufacturers concentrate on producing video/sequence cameras
only to the exclusion of still cameras, well, I don't have any
compunction to buy them. I have more than enough good cameras in the
closet already that do what I need and want, and will likely do so
until long after I've lost the ability to press the shutter button.

Should I want to capture video, on the other hand, I celebrate their
latest and wonderful achievements.
