Why the fascination with "'ugly' subjects"?
I don't know, really. One thing I've started noticing recently, is that
there are actually quite many "stately" houses around me that are in a
pretty bad shape, which makes me sad and fascinates me at the same time
- I'm not sure I can explain why. Also, I've often walked around the old
airport area near where I live, which is supposedly being transformed
partly into a new suburb, partly a park and recreational area, looking
for something nice to photograph. Mostly I've ended up being annoyed
because all I seemed to notice was rubble, machinery, heaps of gravel,
piles of dirt overgrown with weed, semi-derelict buildings etc - as the
transformation seems to progress *very* slowly. Then it occurred to me
that it might be possible to view it all in a different way...
Most of these shots are from that area of course. You should notice the
control tower in a couple of them, and there's also an old hangar or two ;-)
