Nikon is in the same game with the Nikon 1 line. Seems to be well received by the people who have bought it. > To me, the really interesting question is Pentax/Ricoh's approach to > the small camera market. Pentax/Ricoh already has something in the middle ... the GXR system, which is chameleon-like in that it can be a compact point and shoot ultrazoom, or an advanced amateur class, dedicated M-bayonet interchangeable lens camera. The Q is a new small sensor system, and the K-01 is banking on the Pentax SLR lens mount. The GXR has a much broader scope and with more proficient controls and customization capabilities than either, and really constitutes a family of six cameras with widely different capabilities and market focus, all coordinated by the same controls and base feature set (body unit). Unless you really need the sequence and responsive capabilities of a higher end APS-C SLR body, the GXR will produce the goods. AND provide a level of lens adaptability/versatility that no SLR lens mount camera has come close to. -- Godfrey godfreydigiorgi.posterous.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
