Probably the most important news bit of the whole Photokina this year. I could care less about more MP or more AF points in new Pentax (Nikon/Canon/etc) camera. My K-5 is perfectly fine for all the needs that I have and I don't plan to upgrade any time soon. This time it is firm as I've had enough with K-7 and K-5. No more bleeding edge early adoption to me.

Yet, this camera is amazing news. It signals that:

1. Full frame can be put into a very small body and it does not have to be Leica.

2. Likely this camera will be followed by more, may be from other manufacturers.

3. This and new Fuji camera system open new horizons both in terms of sensor design and in terms of camera/lens design.

This is marvelous news if you ask me.

And yes, I am sick and tired of having to wipe my glasses every time I take my Pentax to the eye, while with Ricoh I enjoy both the distance between me and the camera screen and the flexibility of my hands, so that I can shoot from the angles that prior to that weren't very convenient, although I did learn to shoot without looking at the viewfinder of any kind and with reasonable degree of levelness of my shots.

So, I don't know about you, my fellow Pentaxians - but I am extremely excited about this offering from Sony. I don't plan to buy one but I do plan to gather the fruits of their labor when opportunity inevitably presents itself.

Oh, I get it, we're all too busy discussing the exciting K-5 II and
its new/better/improved 16MP sensor and AF engine:
