I don't necessarily agree that full-frame is the Holy Grail. If Pentax comes out with one that works with my existing lenses, and I can afford/justify/get my hands on one, I might feel differently, of course, and I do think they need to, if only to say they have one.
Likewise. I did not meant to imply that it was in fact the Holy Grail and everyone should get one as long as they're being produced.
But most any camera that is limited to that degree, especially at that price, is by necessity--for me-- automatically relegated to a second camera role, and for that much money, I can buy another camera or two, with viewfinders and the ability to switch lenses. Or I can buy a new K5, one of those Fuji X100's for fun, and still come out ahead, for the work I do.
That's a valid logic. I also thought that Ricoh GXR would be a second camera for me limited to only one focal length, etc. But I was wrong. The convenience and the resulting IQ won me over.
Now it could be a technological miracle, and they may come out with optional VF's of one kind or another, so I'll reserve judgment on that, but current specs don't impress me very much.
Well, that's your choice. I also would not buy it as it will likely cost more than I would be willing to pay. However I do hope that it will drive the market and the manufacturers to do more than just add extra MP or focus points to their existing cameras. I for one wholeheartedly admit that Sony has been putting out lots of truly innovative products on the market. And that's good for everyone, not just those who shoot with Sony gear.
