Everyone should be aware that the software for some of the fingerprint readers does some very stupid things, like leaving your password, "verification answer", and/or fingerprint "residue" unencrypted in insecure locations like the Windows registry. Unfortunately, I haven't followed the issue closely enough to know how prevalent the problem is or which vendors are good or bad about stuff like that.
