That's especially true of younger people that have grown up in the
post-film days.

In my classes I tell them they are giving up a lot of the performance
they paid for.  Most of the cameras focus slower, have a longer
shot-to-shot time, and have much more shutter lag when you use live
view.  Some of them seem so disappointed.  I'm sure there are few have
never looked through the optical viewfinder.
