Note that if you use a self-timer, the SR is disabled, so that may
cover a lot of tripod use. I usually use the 2-second timer to dampen
vibration, unless timing is critical.

That said, I recently found that under some circumstances, SR is
highly beneficial even on a tripod. Out in South Dakota, the
combination of a 300mm lens, 1/15" exposures, and a brisk wind was
resulting in blurred shots until I turned off the self-timer and let
SR do its job.
