Well, that still doesn't change the problem with needing to quickly, or change imputed focal length or switch SR off with an A zoom. It's not a show stopper but it does make use of pre F zooms quite the PITA at times.

Now I'm just waiting to watch what happens to the price of existing K-5 stocks to strike at the right time. What with all those disaffected FF hopers jumping to Nikon and all, and everyone else jumping to the K-5II there should be quite the glut of K-5s to drive down the price

Prefacing my comment with the caveat that I haven't actually handled a K-5
or K-7, I will say that other than an aperture simulator the one thing I'd
like to see returned to Pentax K mount bodies is a dedicated SR switch. For
one thing Pentax /still/ recommends in very strong terms that SR be turned
off when using a camera support,
Note that if you use a self-timer, the SR is disabled, so that may
cover a lot of tripod use. I usually use the 2-second timer to dampen
vibration, unless timing is critical.

That said, I recently found that under some circumstances, SR is
highly beneficial even on a tripod. Out in South Dakota, the
combination of a 300mm lens, 1/15" exposures, and a brisk wind was
resulting in blurred shots until I turned off the self-timer and let
SR do its job.

Don't lose heart, they might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthly search.
