So, I've got this spiffy new monitor and I'm going through my images to
see how they look, and I'm absolutely stunned at how atrocious some of
them are! I'd been using an old 19" CRT up until now and had no idea
they were that awful. It's a wonder anything I ever shot came out as a
decent print. I wish someone had told me a long time ago. I'm thoroughly
embarrassed by some of the photos I thought were fairly decent.
That said, I also found this shot which I didn't realize I had. I think
it's a Red Tail Hawk, since it's hawk-like in appearance and has a
vaguely red tail.

In any event, I'm still a bit mortified by some of the images I've been
publishing under the misapprehension that they're usable photos. Makes
me want to scrap my entire library and start anew!
Since it's just the hawk & blue sky, I'd look at cropping the image so
that the hawk is located on one of the rule of thirds or golden ratio
points. That would give it a little more impact.
Or maybe even crop it for a pano.
Thanks, John.
It's pretty tight relative to the original as-is, but I'll see what I
can do with a re-crop.
