I totally disagree with you. Trying to write code and produce web results that work for everybody, or as many viewers as possible, is my goal. There are great numbers of people who don't have the latest and greatest software, browsers, and computers, and to put forth something on the web that knowingly - and perhaps intentionally - discounts them is, IMO, both rude and self-defeating. After all, the idea is to communicate and share information.
