The secretions on the skin of many frogs is intended to deter toothed
animals from such nonsense. Some of the critters are poisonous,
especially in the tropical climes. A few are deadly poisonous.

It's a good practice wherever you are to NOT lick a frog or toad, or
lick your hand clean if you've handled one.   :)

dog first discovered him about a month ago, while it was still
light. The dog tried to take the creature in his mouth (as dog are
wont to do), but immediately spit it out.  The dog then shook his
head repeatedly for a minute or more, sticking out his tongue.  I
guess the critter really tastes bad.  <G>
