Hi:
I have a Samsung 225BW monitor which has decided to go rogue on me. When
I wake up my screens, it will flash on and then off again. If I cycle
the power on and off a few times, it will light up and stay lit.
Is this something that is repairable or should I just trash the thing?
It's my second screen, so I'm not really too concerned that it is kind
of a crap monitor, and I fear that if I replace it, I'll buy another
good screen ($$$$).

A number of Samsung visual products have suffered from poor quality
elecrolytic apacitors in the PSUs. Symptoms similar to yours.
Apparently, replacing with equivalents from any reputable component
supplier fixes the problem permanently. Pulling it apart to see if they
are bulging or discoloured might be a lead to a quick fix if you are up
to that sort of stuff.

Thanks Mike. I'm not really up to that sort of thing, so I'll probably just replace it. (I do know to discharge capacitors before touching them, BTW). I might try fixing the thing, and treat it as no loss if I make it worse, which is becoming a hardly possible thing. It took me about 40 tries to get it to fire up this morning.

Thanks again
