More non-Pentax content. I was reading some more about the NEX-6 (and RX-100) and the Clear Image Zoom technology.
I've never been a fan of digital zoom and have always considered it to be hocus-pocus (and still do). However, this implementation is worth considering. The description of CIZ is "Utilizing Sony’s exclusive By Pixel Super Resolution Technology, Clear Image Zoom increases the effective focal length of your lens up to 2x by digitally magnifying the center of your image with nearly imperceptible degradation. It virtually doubles the effective focal length of whatever lens you’re using providing greater shooting flexibility." Here's an example comparing an optically zoomed NEX-7 image and a CIZ image from an RX-100. http://connect.dpreview.com/forums/post/50008842 To be honest, I guessed incorrectly, which was the NEX-7 image and which was the RX-100 digitally zoomed image. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
