Even though what the Mail app sends isn't strict plain ASCII, it's
plain enough so the PDML listserver doesn't reject it.

I expect that the problem is as soon as you embed a link, the Mail app
turns it into HTML markup (a hotlink) and changes the content type of
the mail body to accomodate that. *That* is what the PDML then rejects
as being too modern for us old fuddy-duddies.
