I didn't really use it much below water. I bought it because I sometimes do some outdoor work in whatever the weather conditions are and need to take pictures of sites. A waterproof camera seemed like a good idea and the Canon was by far the cheapest option. When I did play with it in swimming pools, I found that most of the shots were grossly overexposed by the flash.... Now I have a Zoom 90 WR, which has its own faults but produces excellent pictures most of the time. I suspect it will fail before the A1, though. BTW, for those who were discussing "proper" snorkelling cameras, there is a UK (?) producer called Sea & Sea who make a few models with attachable strobes. They are considerably cheaper than Nikonos' and are seen secondhand reasonably often. It may be a rebrand of the Reefmaster. One of these was lost by a diver in the English channel.
