Preeeee-cisely.
I've owned many a screwdriver in my life, but they didn't make me a good mechanic. But, if I take a car to a mechanic, I expect him to have and know how to use a screwdriver.
And, somewhat relatedly (and I think I've shared this tale here before), the local brick n' mortar shop where I bought my K-x is operated by a guy who, when I asked what kind of prime lenses he had, he looked me dead in the eye and with absolutely no irony whatsoever, and asked in return, "What do you mean by /prime/ lens?"
But, hell -- I'm sure he's a fine photographer. He just needs to force himself to use a zoom lens at a single focal length for awhile.
