You could probably buy one of the $5 eBay eyecups & transfer the rubber
part to your O-ME53.

Yes, but that's the point, check out the price for replacements at
Pentax. I have the O-ME53 and the rubber's beginning to split. The
fact that it's perfectly good except for that I'd just like to buy
the rubber. being a Yankee I'm offended at having to replace the
entire Axe when all it needs is a handle
