Thanks, Jack. This scene reminds me of the first time I took my son to the Jersey Shore. He was very young and my wife was afraid that the sight and would of the surf would frighten him. While my wife held the (very large) video camera, a took him by the hand, and assured him that he would be safe with me. As soon as he saw a wave crashing toward the shore, he let out a loud scream of joy, pulled his hand out of mine, and ran into the water. It was lucky his legs were still short, so I could catch up to him before he made it very far in. As soon as he became old enough, he insisted on taking scuba lessons.
Maui is an ideal place to introduce small children to the ocean, because the water temperature is about the same as the air temperature, and because there are many coves where the waves are mild enough for youngster to enjoy.
