She wasn't presenting them as news or facts but rather as propoganda. The NY times cannot publish cartoons endorsing the president's asassination. I cannot publish an editorial stating that people should get their guns and kill the nearest police officer they see. She was also part of some cop hating group or something like that. I see your points (and I'm mostly playing devils advocate, because I'm no fan of police), but there are limits on speech and harassment and threats are generally considered criminal and yeah that's certainly the start of a very slippery slope.
I'm also apalled that a photographer was charged with anything for street photography. Maybe he was being a dick (some are), I dunno, but what he did was within his rights. I try to at least be respectful of people at least. Maybe he went wrong there, but that's nothing to go to jail over.
