So your argument, then, is that there *is* a need for leaf-shutter lenses
for the MZ-S because studio pros use studio strobes, not shoe flashes?
Seems to me that a real studio pro who used studio strobes would be
shooting something better than a 35mm.

I guess what I'm getting at is that (even if a studio photog were shooting
35mm) there's rarely a need for them to shoot faster than 1/180, so
there's rarely a need for leaf-shutter lenses for studio use.  The type of
photographers who typically need faster shutter speeds (wedding, P.J.,
etc.) would typically use shoe flashes anyway, even if mounted off-camera.
The other Tom's remark doesn't seem that off-base to me.
