I my experience the 18-135 is WAY better than that one ...
(but I have not used the 18-55 very much)

Most Pentax primes will be somewhat better than this 18-135 but it really is an
incredible
versatile lens with a huge zoom range, and focussing very fast compred to most
other lenses.

It is my favourite 'walk about' lens on my K5.

On hollidays it is ogten that lens and the BIGMA (50-500) that I have with me,
and 95 percent
of the shots will be from the 18-135.

Center sharpness is quite good, and so is contrast.
The corners are a bit behind, but not that much.

The 50--200 is not bead either, but it is certainly better than the 18-55 in my
opinion.

Several of my PUG entries of the last few years have been shot with it.

Perhaps, as said a prime will probably be a bit better but then you have one
focal length ...

Fotr me it is one of my best zooms (and I have almost a dozen :-)
