See my earlier rant about the lack of uniform specifications for
tripod and head performance.

All the more reason to look at the ball heads that have been around for awhile - they must be capable or they wouldn't still be selling.

You might check with a real person @ Kirks or Really Right Stuff to see what their load capacity means.

In any event, 88lbs is overkill for a 35mm format camera system.
Hell my 600mm FA is only around 16lbs. (which I wouldn't put on a
ball head anyhow).

When it comes down to it, the only performance specification for
tripod heads is weight, but they never say what it means, so
who is to say that a 20lb manfrotto, 20 lb Induro, 20 lb RRC etc.
perform the same.
