Which is why a beret or Nepalese yak herder's hat works well. In hot sunny 
weather, I do require a bill or brim for the sun so I just don't shoot 
verticals in the summer.

Muslim men wear the fez because a brimmed hat interferes when you bow in prayer 
and touch your forehead on the ground. This same thinking makes the fez the 
ideal hat for photographers. And when you need to protect your neck, wear a 
shemagh.
