Dartmouth, my alma mater, was chartered in 1769 as a school for Native Americans. It soon took sons of English colonists as well, when few natives enrolled. Over the past 30 years, the school has greatly expanded its recruiting of Native American students. The stole worn by this graduate represents the Native Americans at Dartmouth student organization.
