The only way to keep a negative perfectly flat is to use a cover glass. The Beseler negatrans uses one, and makes for a nice flat neg. It also adds a couple more level surfaces for dust to adhere to. I use a 23C Dual Dichroic for my 6x7 and smaller stuff. I like diffuser printing, and I enjoy the convenience of the dichroics for contrast control. One of the nice things about T-Max film is how inherently flat the film stays. I quite like TMY in medium format, where the grain is not an issue. I think colour heads are the coolest heads as well. Cold lights are cooler, only when compared to condenser heads. I haven't had film popping problems with either my cold light or my colour head. My second choice for black and white would be a VC cold light head. William Robb - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
