I've known it in that context for a while too, but I haven't found it in any of
our dictionaries. Our Shorter Oxford English Dictionary does have
administratrix which conjures up some interesting mental imagery.
I did enjoy looking in our 1963 Websters Unabridged as it has that lovely

i don't recall when i first saw it, but i expect it was on USENET in the 1980s;
many dictionary entries put its origin in the 1930s, probably because the three
earliest hits on Google Books are in that decade
