The flickr publish service in Lightroom works very nicely. You can set up separate profiles for uploading photos. Either by size, privacy, subject, or all of the above. Different profiles by subject makes it easier to find them in lightroom.
When you modify a photo in lightroom, even just adding tags, it uploads those changes to flickr.
