I think that "aside from" is a biggie. If you break the connection
between the O-GPS1 and the camera (or turn off and back on the O-GPS1)
you have to go through the "precise calibration" all over again.

I already have an actual Telrad on my 8" dob (would just need to get
another base for it). I also have a BSA red dot sight that I got to
hot shoe mount to try to do birds in flight:

Either one would work, but I just need to figure out a compact clean
way to mount them together and assure that they are pointing at the
same place.
