Some questions for you: * Assuming you gain sensitivity by using a monochrome sensor, then you would lose it by placing a coloured filter in front of it. * So what have you gained in the end? The K-3 already seems to have plenty of resolution; what will you do with all the extra rez? * What lenses are these that work well for B&W but not colour? If a lens shows chromatic aberrations, these are going to be present on a monochrome sensor too, except they'll show up as on your images as broad grey edges on dark-to-bright transition areas instead of as coloured edges. I shoot B&W (converting from RGB) and have to deal with CAs just like everyone else.
You might enjoy reading this article comparing monochrome to RGB sensor (on a medium format, but still useful): http://www.luminous-landscape.com/REVIEWS/cameras/achromatic.shtml Also, depending on who's selling you the monochrome sensor, you might actually *lose* IQ at higher ISOs: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/leica_m9_monochrom.shtml I found the differences between RGB and monochrome sensors to be there for the nitpickers, but I've never been convinced these "improvements" outweigh the benefits of an RGB sensor for B&W work. My $0.02, etc. Cheers, —M. \/\/o/\/\ --> http://WorldOfMiserere.com http://EnticingTheLight.com A Quest for Photographic Enlightenment On 29 November 2013 12:01, Zos Xavius <[email protected]> wrote: > Would you buy it?
