Not that long ago a, five years at most IIRC, Modern Photography did an article on winter photography, with the sun in or just out of frame on digital cameras, if you read the photo credits all of the lenses used were Pentax super multi coated primes, from the late 1970s early 1980s So lets see, fewer lens elements with superior coatings really does mean less flare. Who would have thunk. One of the reasons I think dropping the SMC designation for HD is a pretty bad marketing idea. If you know about SMC, you know.
