My stepson is still using my ThinkPad from about the same time - with Windows ME, no less!

I've had a couple of Thinkpad X100e netbooks. They are very well built. The first one came to an abrupt end when someone spilt a glass of water on it and screwed the motherboard. The replacement still works, but overheats, especially running Windows. It was bought as a couch-potato machine, and I now use an iPad for that, so the TP is just for mucking about with experimental operating systems. One of these days I will swap the heat sink from the dead machine, but i'm in no hurry. At work we used to supply Thinkpads to the people who go around jumping out of helicopters and driving Landcruisers around dusty places. The Thinkpads were fairly bomb-proof, but I think we ended the contract for reasons other than the quality of the machines. I still have a working IBM TP 760ED from 1995. I think it's made of cast iron.
