I'm totally frustrated by my piece of shit ACER flatbed scanner ( only paid $79 for it). It adds too much contrast to my B&W prints. The lightest tones scan as pure white and pure black scanns as dark grey. VERY non linear. It also scans overall slightly dark for some reason which sucks. The blown out highlites cant be fixed in photoshop...
I'm looking to buy the best quality flatbed for say $300. I would like a USB and/or Firewire connection and 1200dpi would be nice, but most of all i want a very good gray scale. I think the spec that's important is desity range or DMAX. I want the best possible gray scale as I'm getting into B&W and its nice to be able to use the prints on the web. Any suggestions? HP? Canon? JCO - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions.
