Ya know, since cameras are not sold or used with cases these days, a camera quiets down very nicely with the lower half of the case mounted on the camera. Pentax even made a case where there was a flap for the shutter release and a hole for the lens to protrude. The later vertical focal plane shutters are quieter the the horizantal focal plan shutters.
