Nope _ Stan had it - Rose-breasted grosbreak. The towee I know well from Maine (and elsewhere) . Confusion understandable at a glance, but
note the very white bit on his front and the magenta tone to the color.
Their size and chubbiness is similar

that would be a rufus sided towhee; used to hear them scratching around
in scrubby woodlands in Maine much more than i ever saw them; after 25+
years in Colorado i finally saw them here a couple of times
